From the WSF Annual General Meeting held last week.
Earlier, in one of the most controversial issues handled at an AGM in recent years, the delegates voted overwhelmingly to adopt a new universal ‘Point A Rally’ scoring system for Squash, to 11 points per game – as is currently the case in the professional game for both men and women. The sport’s new official scoring system will come into effect from 1 April 2009.
From Ontario Squash
WHAT IS PAR 11 SCORING?PAR 11 is played best of five games to 11 points, with points being scored irrespective of which player serves. Where the score reaches ten all, the game will be won by two clear points (which will be expressed as 11-10, irrespective of the actual score, in the way that tennis tie breaks are written as 7-6).
Note that the PSA and WISPA gave up on the 11-10 (x-y) reporting of scores. Too hard. They simply list the actual scores of the game, e.g. 14-12.
